Keeping Your Looks In Balance

Posted in: Dermal Fillers Published: October 8th 2018

We all understand basic skincare as wear SPF daily, exfoliate, moisturise. But what about the more unexpected secrets that many dermatologists will swear by. We share some of these secrets with you and hope you can start to see some positive changes in your skin’s appearance.

Skin Peels

Skin peels containing active ingredient Salicylic acid can help to protect skin from the sun, whereas peels containing Glycolic acid can make your skin more susceptible to sunburn. Our advice is to avoid the latter peel particularly during summer or on holiday.

Overcleansing

Cleaning your skin too much is worse than not cleaning it at all. If your skin is not breaking out into spots after you’ve cleaned it with cold water, then there really is no need for you to wash away its natural oils. If your skin breaks out, then you will inevitably need a cleanser in your daily regime. Everyone’s skin is different and whilst some people need daily cleansing using a cleanser, others can get away with a splash of cold water that gets rid of excess oils especially in the T zones.

Not as your skin ages, these oils will become less present and dryness starts to overtake. So don’t over cleanse these good oils away too much. There’s no need to use harsh products off the shelf. Emollient oil-based cleansers are designed to retain moisture within the skin.

Indoor Lighting

Indoor natural light can contain a significant amount of UV rays, so applying a sunscreen after washing in the morning is still important even if you’re staying in all day.

The pH of your Diet

Did you know that sparkling water has an acidic pH of 3-4?

Fizzy drinks, eggs, processed meat, fried food and dairy are also high in acid and can create skin problems for some.

Avoid the Dentist After Skin Treatments

Did you know that if you visit your dentist after a dermatology session it can cause you to break out in acne? The extra saliva production in the dentist’s chair is the main trigger for this. Whilst this is not true for everyone, it is certainly something to be aware of in case it coincidentally occurs for you.

Overplumping Lips

You’ve guessed what we’re going to point out to you here. When you ask for super-plump lips from your trusted practitioner, do remember that the lips stretch permanently. So if you decide you don’t want big lips later on, you will need surgery to get them back to how they were, which could result in a scar.

Address All Component of Ageing

Our last tip for great looking skin is make sure you address everything.

  1. Wrinkles
  2. Volume Loss
  3. Sagging
  4. Hair Extensions

You need to address all three of the above together. If you just treat one, then it will look unnatural. All of the above components work hand in hand in creating a youthful appearance.

At Filler World, we provide you a one-stop shop dermal filler destination.

We advise our products should only be administered by licensed healthcare practitioners after purchase.
