How Long Will My Filler last?

Posted in: Dermal Fillers Published: February 18th 2019

This is a question that arises a lot!

Everyone wants to know if they are getting their money’s worth or investment into their cosmetic beauty treatment?

When you’ve had your treatment and fallen in love with the results, your first thought will be, “How long is this going to last?”

The answer depends on many factors, such as :

  • type of filler used
  • age
  • lifestyle
  • exercise
  • diet
  • general metabolism
  • whether you’ve had fillers before
  • the quantity of gel used
  • how deep the filler was administered
  • where the filler was injected
  • how deep your wrinkles or folds were before treatment

For first-time filler patients, the filler (which we should refer to as the active ingredient, Hyaluronic Acid) will quickly be metabolised by the body. Further treatments tend to elongate the duration of how long the filler will last. So top up treatments are always going to help your filler last longer.

Sometimes spending a little bit more for your brand can mean you are getting a durable brand that is well known to last longer than other brands.

Remember, that Hyaluronic Acid (which is also naturally found in the body) isn’t always the key ingredient in all fillers, although it is the most popular one.

Sculptra and Radiesse have their own active ingredients. For Sculptra, Polylactic acid is the biodegradable ingredient. Radiesse is made of Calcium hydroxylapatite which is in fact another natural component found inside our bodies, so the body doesn’t treat it like a foreign body and it’s accepted normally and the results can be reversed if required.

The reversible factor is a large advantage in terms of patient safety. If a patient needed to cancel any changes, their practitioner can use Hyaluronidase to do this.

At Filler World, we provide you a one-stop shop dermal filler destination.

We advise our products should only be administered by licensed healthcare practitioners after purchase.
