Dysport, Botox and now Jeaveau?

Posted in: Dermal Fillers Published: May 27th 2019

Dysport and Botox. Both popular toxins in the cosmetic industry, but when presented with more than one choice, how do you choose between the two?

Many will want to know which one is right for them, to stop that constant frowning which hinders their wonderful good looks and by carrying out your own unique research, you will become better equipped with the facts and knowledge to make up your own decision.

When we examine the internal structure of both toxins, they both contain the same Botulinum Toxin. Similarly, they are both used to treat the constant contraction of muscles on the face and therefore, the same indications, namely crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles, eyelid lifting and between the brow wrinkles. In fact, they are both useful for the treatment of excessive sweating in the armpits and also for creating facial symmetry.

There are new toxins being developed all the time and Jeaveau is the latest one to hit the industry news, which could be a strong cost-effective competitor for the existing Botox. Botox manufactured by Allergan, the same brand that brings you Juvederm, still remains the longest established toxin producer. Dysport, a French development is still fairly new.

There are many recommendations on how to administer treatment using Botulinums. The advice mainly steers around refraining from any antibiotic use or other blood thinning tablets. Reducing alcohol intake and tobacco is also highly recommended.

Let’s take a look at the treatment side in close up. Botox and Dysport professionals will always use the thinnest needle possible to ensure minimal swelling and bruising. Treatment is nearly painless thanks to the thinness of the needle.

How quickly results are visible depends on whether you go for Botox or Dysport. Results are not instantaneous. Botox will show quicker results usually within 3 days, whereas Dysport will take up to 2 weeks to show results. Results with the latter can usually last for quarter of a year.

Both work to relax muscles and smooth out stubborn wrinkles, but they both have their clear differences too, in terms of how much they cost, how quickly they are effective, how long they last and of course, their concentrations. Concentrations of product used needs to be administered on an individual case basis, which requires specialist knowledge.

At Filler World, we provide you a one-stop shop dermal filler destination.

We advise our products should only be administered by licensed healthcare practitioners after purchase.
