Are Under Eye Circles Bothering You?

Posted in: Cosmetics Published: November 19th 2018

Dark circles under the eyes are one of those things we often put down to late nights and poor sleep. Blood vessels start to dilate, whilst creating a darker pigment in that area and too much rubbing of the eyes can cause swelling. Resisting that rub can be extremely challenging but important if you want to maintain those looks!

Dark circles can also be passed down the generations as a hereditary trait. Whilst some families are circle-less, others display a common pattern of circles throughout their lineage. You may have noticed people with darker skin also have darker circles under their eyes. This is mainly due to the presence of melanin. With a higher proportion of melanin present than normal, it can turn into dark circles.

The under eye area is extremely delicate and cosmetics should be applied with caution. Whilst some skin types can tolerate it, others will not and excess makeup application may eventually leave its effects in years to come. Not all moisturisers are suitable to use as eye creams and investing in a specific eye cream should be considered. Peptides (a type of protein) are one example of a skin-friendly ingredient which have been proven to improve dark circles over the years if used regularly. In fact, peptides are extremely clever anyway as an anti-ageing tool.

Ageing is another contributing factor, where the skin starts to thin as a result of collagen production diminishing. And diet? Apparently an imbalanced combination of too much salt and alcohol, can cause dehydration and puffiness.

If you’ve been trying to conceal those dark circles for years, no doubt you will be craving a fresher, healthier complexion. You may want to wean yourself off concealer so you can be flawless, naturally.

There are many products that vouch for stimulating all the good stuff in the under eye area. We’re going to introduce you to a couple now.

Sesderma K-Vit Anti-Dark Circles Serum 40001860

Prevents and removes dark circles associated with skin ageing in the eye contour area. The skin in the eye contour area is the most delicate, fragile skin on the face. It is a highly vascularised area where blood pigments (haemosiderin) build up, causing the purple colour characteristic of dark circles. K-vit Serum, thanks to its composition featuring Vitamin K oxide encapsulated in liposomes, reduces the build-up of these blood pigments to improve the appearance of the dark circles. Its formula also contains plant-based active ingredients, camphanediol, pinanediol, hyaluronic acid and organic silica to improve microcirculation in the area and help to correct the signs of ageing in the eye contour area, such as bags and wrinkles.

Sesderma Kit Anti-Dark Circles (Angioses & K-Vit) 40002590

This kit comprises of two products developed for the prevention and reduction of dark circles and aging around the eye area, especially in skins with dark circles and prone to blotches. The kit contains Angioses Eye Contour 15 ml and K-Vit Serum Anti Dark Circles 10 ml; both of these treatments are suitable for all skin types.
