The 3 key benefits of LMX4 are:

    • Fast results, effective from 30 minutes
    • Well tolerated with low side effects
    • Can be applied for up to 5 hours

    What's included in the box?

The pack sizes are 5g and 30g. Both packs contain either an aluminium tube with an epoxyphenolic or polyamide-imide internal lacquer fitted with a polyethylene cap.

    Store below 25°C

    What ingredients does it contain?

    • Carbomers
    • Cholesterol
    • Phospholipon 80H (Hydrogenated Soy Lecithin)
    • Polysorbate 80 (Tween 80)
    • Propylene Glycol
    • Trolamine
    • Vitamin E Acetate

    How should LMX4 be administered?

The techniques used include Venipuncture or Venous Cannulation

Can be used by adults, including elderly, and children over one month of age.

Apply 1g to 2.5g of cream onto the skin to cover a 2.5cm x 2.5cm (6.25cm2) area where venous cannulation or venipuncture will occur. Only 1g of cream or less should be applied to infants below the age of 1 year.

1g of cream is the same as 5cm of cream squeezed from the 5g tube or 3.5cm from the 30g tube.

Are There Any Precautions To Be Taken with LMX 4 Cream?

Always read the label to see the full list of precautions to be taken with this cream.

LMX 4 Cream is for external use only and all contact with eyes should be avoided, as it can cause severe eye irritation. Wash eyes straight away and always wash hands after application to skin.

Propylene glycol can cause skin irritation. Discontinue using if symptoms persist.

Avoid using in large quantities over raw or blistered areas and do not apply on irritated skin.

Increased application of LMX4 can increase blood levels of Lidocaine. Overdose is unlikely however any signs of toxicity can include blurred vision, dizziness or drowsiness, difficulty breathing, trembling, chest pain, or irregular heartbeat. Chances of toxicity are heightened when using LMX4 alongside other anaethetics.

A maximum of 2 dosages should only be given every 24 hours.

Can Lidocaine be used alongside other medicines?

Lidocaine should be used with caution in patients receiving Class I anti- arrhythmic drugs (such as tocainide and mexiletine) since the toxic effects are additive and generally synergistic.

Drugs that reduce the clearance of lidocaine (eg cimetidine or betablockers such as propranolol) may cause potentially toxic plasma concentrations when lidocaine is given in repeated high doses over a long period of time.

Can Lidocaine be given to pregnant or lactating women?

Lidocaine can cross the placental barrier and should only be used during pregnancy if absolutely required. It is also secreted during breastfeeding and should be given with precaution to breastfeeding mothers.

There was no indication of any mutagenic effects during studies.
